Full Time Harm Reduction Counselor - Holyoke

Join our team and make a difference! Tapestry Health is a non-profit organization that provides a range of health services throughout Western Massachusetts. Currently, we have an opening for a full time Harm Reduction Counselor at our Needle Exchange Program in Holyoke.

Qualifications: Experience with substance abuse and knowledge of HIV/AIDS prevention principles. Knowledge of drug using culture. Valid MA driver's license and reliable transportation. Ability to be creative and flexible, work independently as well as in a team. Non-judgmental approach when working with clients. Some working knowledge of the internet, Microsoft Word, and other computer programs. Knowledge of addiction theory, substance abuse treatment programs, HIV prevention, and viral hepatitis. Individuals in recovery are encouraged to apply.

Primary Responsibilities: The Harm Reduction Counselor is responsible for working as part of a team to provide outreach and education to injection drug users in regards to HIV prevention.  The Harm Reduction Counselor will work as part of a Harm Reduction Team to develop effective goals and strategies to identify, access, educate and support out-of-treatment injection drug users in reducing their risk for HIV infection or transmission. The Harm Reduction Counselor works as part of a team of Outreach Workers to ensure that services to the community are high quality, accessible and non-judgmental. 

*Bilingual in Spanish is required.

Part Time Harm Reduction and Sexual Health Counselor - Northampton
 
 
Join our team and make a difference! Tapestry Health is a non-profit organization that provides a range of health services throughout Western Massachusetts. Currently, we have an opening for a part time (24-29 hours a week) Harm Reduction and Sexual Health Counselor at our Northampton clinic.  
 
Primary Responsibilities: The Harm Reduction and Sexual Health Counselor is responsible for working as part of a team to provide high quality, confidential, accessible and non-judgmental reproductive health, HIV prevention and harm reduction services to injection drug users and to the general public in need of services.
 
Required Qualifications: High School graduate or equivalent required along with one year of counseling experience. Strong interpersonal, written and verbal communication skills required.  Willingness to be trained in blood draws and administering vaccinations.  Ability to work independently and as a team.  Able to carry out typical administrative functions. Valid Massachusetts license and access to reliable transportation.
 
Preferred Experience:Knowledge of HIV/AIDS, harm reduction principles and reproductive health. Experience with substance use and needle exchanges. Demonstrated skills in community education and organizing. Bilingual Spanish.

Part-Time Counselor - Amherst/Greenfield

Join our team and make a difference! Tapestry Health is a non-profit organization that provides a range of essential services throughout Western Massachusetts, with a focus on family planning and reproductive health care. We are currently seeking a part-time Counselor for our Amherst and Greenfield sites for 28 hours per week which includes Saturdays.

Duties: Provide counseling to clients regarding reproductive health issues, contraceptive issues, HIV/AIDS and other sexually transmitted diseases, routine testing and screening, and breast and testicular self-exams. Ability to draw blood and do finger sticks.

Qualifications: Minimum 2-year Associate’s degree; one year of relevant experience; excellent interpersonal skills; ability to work with diverse clientele and staff. Bilingual English/Spanish is a plus!

Compensation: $13.18 Per Hour

Substitute Clinician (NP/PA/CNM) - Western MA

 

Join our team and make a difference! Tapestry Health is a non-profit organization that provides a range of essential services throughout Western Massachusetts, with a focus on family planning and reproductive health care. We are currently seeking Substitute Clinicians (NP,PA.CNM) to fill in at our various sites throughout Western, Mass. Locations include: Holyoke, Springfield, Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield and Pittsfield.  Hours, locations and frequency will vary based on need. No minimum required sub hours per month and the ability to travel to all sites is not necessary.  Travel reimbursement is provided.

 

Minimum Required Qualifications: NP/PA/CNM License to practice in the state of Massachusetts, Board certified, ability to work with diverse clientele and staff, good interpersonal skills and a team mentality is a must! At least one year of clinical experience and knowledge of women's health care is required.

Compensation: $35.00 per hour

Director of Clinical Services (NP, PA,CNM) – Florence

 

Tapestry Health is a non-profit health care agency that has been serving western Massachusetts for over 40 years. Founded as the Family Planning Council of Western Massachusetts in 1973, Tapestry remains the only non-profit organization in the region to offer family planning and reproductive health care to often marginalized individuals, such as young people, women living in poverty, recent immigrants, injection drug users, the homeless, and men and women with HIV/AIDS, regardless of their ability to pay. With offices in Hampden, Hampshire, Franklin, and Berkshire Counties, we are able to provide a variety of services to our clients including Health Services, WIC programs, HIV prevention and support, homelessness and re-entry programs, and we operate the only two needle exchanges offered in Massachusetts west of Cambridge.

 

Director of Clinical Services

 

The Director of Clinical Services will collaborate with the Medical Director and the Chief Program Officer to ensure that all clinical services are high quality and customer oriented. The Director of Clinical Services will provide clinical consultation and on call clinical services, supervise all clinical staff, conduct performance reviews of clinical staff and assist in the development and implementation of clinical protocol and procedures and agency Quality Assurance monitoring and compliance.

This 30-40 hour a week position will be based out of the administrative offices in Florence with travel to our locations in Springfield, Holyoke, Northampton, Amherst, Greenfield, and Pittsfield.

Duties:

 

  • Provide leadership and monitoring of the development of special projects and initiatives including implementation of new systems (clinical and administrative), pilot projects, and research projects. As well as the development and on-going implementation of meaningful use of EHR

  • Supervise clinical staff, to include the recruitment, training and on-going supervision.

  • Conduct annual performance reviews for clinicians

  • Conduct audits and chart reviews as mandated by MDPH, Title X, SAMHSA and other funders

  • Consult regularly with the Medical Director and collaborate on the development and implementation of medical protocols, medical policies & procedures, the drug formulary, quality assurance/quality improvement issues and new medical services and procedure

  • Act as on call medical consultant to all programs within the agency

  • Plan and conduct in-service training programs for licensed medical staff including the training and orientation of newly hired clinical staff including per-diem staff.  Oversee the training/monitoring of non-clinical staff in performing specimen collection including blood draws

  • Attend and conduct meetings as needed

  • Provide coverage at sites as needed

  • Oversee agency preceptorship initiative

  • Act as liaison between the agency and external vendors providing medical/laboratory services

  • Performs other duties as assigned

Minimum Required Qualifications: 

  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse in Massachusetts. (NP, CNM, PA)

  • Board Certified

  • Three year clinical experience required, women’s health preferred.

  • Able to sit at a desk to use computer and make phone calls.

  • Able to carry out typical administrative functions, computer skills.

  • Supports the mission and goals of the agency

  • Reliable transportation

Preferred Experience: Bilingual, Spanish.  Background in women’s health and sexual reproductive health.

 


 

Internship Opportunities
 
Public Health Intern
The Public Health Intern will work with the Director and Training Coordinator to standardize and strengthen training for, and evaluation of, the agency’s HIV/AIDS Prevention and Substance Abuse programs.  This is a full time, paid position lasting 8 weeks.
 
Qualifications:
 
  1. Bachelor's degree (required).   
  2. Master’s degree in Public Health or actively enrolled in MPH or related program, (preferred).
  3. Ability to balance multiple responsibilities    
  4. Excellent written communication skills  
  5. Multi-task oriented with strong organizational skills 
  6. Excellent computer skills. Working knowledge of Microsoft and Excel.
  7. Working knowledge of HIV, Hep-C and STI’s and willingness to learn how to draw blood for testing
  8. Understanding of substance misuse issues and harm reduction model
  9. Valid driver’s license and access to reliable transportation.
  10. Flexible schedule.
 
Primary Responsibilities
 
Responsibilities vary slightly, depending on the needs of the programs at the time of the internship, but may include: Develop various tools to assist with program planning and evaluation such as observation assessments for program interventions, service planning tool to accompany intake questionnaire, etc.   Additional duties may include providing direct service, participating in community outreach events, assisting with administrative projects as needed. The intern should have access to reliable transportation and be able to travel between Tapestry Health sites as needed
