This morning, Tapestry Health’s WIC nutrition program celebrated National Nutrition Month with its 7th annual WIC Walk in Springfield! 110 preschoolers walked down Main Street to the steps of City Hall, where Mayor Domenic J. Sarno greeted the walkers and addressed the importance of nutrition.
The WIC Walk educates current and prospective participants about the need for diet and exercise in raising healthier and happier children. WIC aims to reduce the risk for childhood obesity by offering vegetables, fruits, and grains to pregnant, postpartum, and breastfeeding women, and to young children until the age of five. Our WIC program serves over 6,000 clients in the Springfield area.
